Position 1: Post-Doctoral Fellow

A post-doctoral research scholar position is available at the University of California at Davis, School of Medicine & Shriners Hospitals for Children, Northern California, to study the role of immune cytokines IL-23/IL-17 in inflammatory arthritis.A post-doctoral research scholar position is available at the University of California at Davis, School of Medicine & Shriners Hospitals for Children, Northern California, to study the role of immune cytokines IL-23/IL-17 in inflammatory arthritis. The successful candidate will work in a newly established laboratory based at Shriners Hospital, with access to state-of-the-art facilities. The laboratory studies the activation and differentiation of osteoclasts in vitro and in vivo using various animal models of arthritis and in vivo gene transfer models. Training in all aspects of osteoclast cell biology will be provided. The position is funded for 4 years with the possibility of renewal for 1 more.

Applicants must be capable of designing and conducting experiments independently, writing manuscripts and fellowship grant applications, and presenting their research at international meetings. The ideal applicant should be highly motivated, be able to interact with other scientists and have expertise in bone biology or immunology. Experience in molecular biology, animal models of arthritis and flow cytometry is highly desirable. Prior work should demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of common laboratory techniques. A PhD, or MD/PhD in a relevant field is required. Position level and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position 2: Post-Doctoral Fellow

A post-doctoral research scholar position is available at the University of California at Davis, School of Medicine, and Division of Rheumatology based at UC Davis Medical Center, Shriners Hospitals-Northern California.

The successful candidate will work in a NIH-funded laboratory with access to state-of-the-art facilities that investigates cytokine regulation of autoimmunity. Self-motivated, scholars that demonstrate passion for research and a comprehensive working knowledge of common in vivo laboratory techniques in the field of immunology and bone biology or dermatology are encouraged to apply. A PhD, or MD/PhD in a relevant field and a strong publication record is required. Fluency in English is essential.
